1. Introduction

Just Drop The Beat ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at justdropthebeat.comand the Just Drop The Beat Chrome extension (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account information— your email address and display name, collected when you sign up via email magic link or Google OAuth.
  • Authentication tokens— access and refresh tokens stored locally in Chrome extension storage to maintain your signed-in session. These tokens are never sent to any third party.
  • Beat metadata— titles, BPM, key, genre, mood, tags, descriptions, and artwork you provide when uploading beats.
  • Beat audio files— MP3, WAV, or FLAC files you upload for distribution. Files are stored securely and only used to distribute to platforms you select.
  • Platform connection data— OAuth tokens and usernames for platforms you connect (e.g. YouTube, BeatStars). Stored encrypted in our database and used solely to upload beats on your behalf.
  • Upload job data— records of which beats were uploaded to which platforms, including status and result URLs.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the Service:

  • Authenticate you and maintain your session across the web app and Chrome extension.
  • Upload your beats and metadata to the platforms you select (BeatStars, YouTube, etc.).
  • Display your upload history, job statuses, and platform connections in your dashboard.
  • Process payments if you upgrade to a paid plan (handled by Stripe — we do not store your payment card details).

4. Chrome Extension

The Just Drop The Beat Chrome extension requires certain browser permissions to function:

  • Storage & unlimitedStorage — to save authentication tokens locally and temporarily hold beat files during upload.
  • Tabs— to open platform pages (e.g. BeatStars) for automated uploads.
  • Scripting— to inject a content script that automates the upload form on BeatStars.
  • Host permissions— limited to BeatStars, Airbit, and our Supabase backend. The extension does not access any other websites.

The extension interacts with website content on BeatStars solely to fill in upload forms with your beat metadata. It does not read, collect, or transmit any other page content.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database. Platform credentials are encrypted at rest. Authentication tokens in the Chrome extension are stored in Chrome's local storage API, which is sandboxed to the extension. We use HTTPS for all data transmission.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase— database hosting and authentication.
  • Stripe— payment processing for paid plans. Stripe receives your payment information directly; we do not store card details.
  • Google OAuth— optional sign-in method.

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to any other third parties.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, beat files, and upload records from our systems. Cached or backup copies may persist for up to 30 days after deletion.

8. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data and account.
  • Disconnect any linked platform at any time from your dashboard.

Requesting Data Deletion

To request deletion of your data, including any data associated with connected platforms such as Instagram, please submit a request using the form below. Once we receive your request, we will contact you to verify your identity and confirm the scope of the deletion. After confirmation, we will permanently remove the requested data from our systems within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
